  • What is a BATNA?

In the area of negotiations, BATNA means the Best Alternative To a Negotiated Agreement. When you deal with a partner or customer, it's extremely important to know your BATNA. Knowing your BATNA allows you to put a limit to how much you're willing to pay as a customer, or provide a discount if you're a vendor, and when you need to walk away from a deal.

Last week, I ascertained my BATNA when I made a final offer to a prospect. It was a significant deal, but knowing my BATNA allowed me to put in that offer with confidence. I don't know yet if I get the deal, but if I don't, I won't be kicking myself because I really did my best.

Good to learn, but very painful and stressful to endure.

We discovered Lucas' first tooth yesterday at the front of the lower jaw! Michelin baby is growing up!

    God is good!

  • wow...so cute!

I just wanted to say thanks to God for little children who make us smile with their adorable cuteness. I want to enjoy them now while they are young, and I just pray my heart won't be broken when they grow up.

The Bible says to teach them in the way that they should go when they are young, and when they are old they will not turn far from it.

Hope I can teach my kids well. The rest, dear God, is in your hands.

  • Up And About

I've been awake since 3+ this morning. Lucas was hungry and went back to sleep after about 1 oz of milk.

Just reviewed the choir's narration. Our first presentation will be in just over a month. I like this piece entitled Night Of Alleluias. Hope I can spend a decent amount of time with it to do very well. I just wonder what I can do to inspire the choir members and make them excited. Maybe I don't have to do anything. Maybe that's not my part to do?

Need a break. Hope to have a trip planned soon.

  • The Canticle Singers Performing Two In Galilee

I attended the Two In Galilee production preview by The Canticle Singers last night. It was a 2nd production effort from the original effort last made 7 years ago in 2002. This time, the venue was at Panggung Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur which I thought was a pretty good and cosy theatre site as compared with First Baptist Church.

Of course, Two In Galilee brings back fond memories as I played the part as one of the Wise Men, Balthazar, in the original production. We had to work very hard for 2 performances, and this time The Canticle Singers have a total of 9 shows, which is something I would not have been able to pull off. Just too tiring and my voice might never have held up.

In terms of the singers, only Khu Gek Sim and Ivy Lim were from the original production, while the technical crew remained largely unchanged with Wong Wing Thim and Kenneth Ooi leading the sound & lights team. Hello to Noel Jayaratnam and Harris Cazaly, too, with the extremely talented Ms. Pearlly Chua as the Front-Of-House Manager being of help as usual.

Two From Galilee 2009 is in aid of The St. Barnabas Home (Malaysia) and Tondo Foundation (Philippines). The singers, who are amateurs (as in not full time professionals!) are volunteers and have had to rehearse regularly twice a week in preparation for this production.

I enjoyed the choral singing but must admit that the principal roles were tough to carry in terms of vocal ability. Being the first presentation, the preview had some technical hiccups that I'm sure they'll rectify soon enough.

The hard work put in by the singers, led by Chong Hoong Kit & Chin San Sooi, shows. Congratulations and all the best for the rest of the shows! I was inspired!
