  • Up And About

I've been awake since 3+ this morning. Lucas was hungry and went back to sleep after about 1 oz of milk.

Just reviewed the choir's narration. Our first presentation will be in just over a month. I like this piece entitled Night Of Alleluias. Hope I can spend a decent amount of time with it to do very well. I just wonder what I can do to inspire the choir members and make them excited. Maybe I don't have to do anything. Maybe that's not my part to do?

Need a break. Hope to have a trip planned soon.

  • The Canticle Singers Performing Two In Galilee

I attended the Two In Galilee production preview by The Canticle Singers last night. It was a 2nd production effort from the original effort last made 7 years ago in 2002. This time, the venue was at Panggung Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur which I thought was a pretty good and cosy theatre site as compared with First Baptist Church.

Of course, Two In Galilee brings back fond memories as I played the part as one of the Wise Men, Balthazar, in the original production. We had to work very hard for 2 performances, and this time The Canticle Singers have a total of 9 shows, which is something I would not have been able to pull off. Just too tiring and my voice might never have held up.

In terms of the singers, only Khu Gek Sim and Ivy Lim were from the original production, while the technical crew remained largely unchanged with Wong Wing Thim and Kenneth Ooi leading the sound & lights team. Hello to Noel Jayaratnam and Harris Cazaly, too, with the extremely talented Ms. Pearlly Chua as the Front-Of-House Manager being of help as usual.

Two From Galilee 2009 is in aid of The St. Barnabas Home (Malaysia) and Tondo Foundation (Philippines). The singers, who are amateurs (as in not full time professionals!) are volunteers and have had to rehearse regularly twice a week in preparation for this production.

I enjoyed the choral singing but must admit that the principal roles were tough to carry in terms of vocal ability. Being the first presentation, the preview had some technical hiccups that I'm sure they'll rectify soon enough.

The hard work put in by the singers, led by Chong Hoong Kit & Chin San Sooi, shows. Congratulations and all the best for the rest of the shows! I was inspired!

  • all types of blogs

sometimes reading other people's blogs make me feel miserable.

saw some very good photos of kids on a blogspot. the pro photographer really chose some good backdrops and the kids were just adorable. http://nateandlindsayesplin.blogspot.com/

i wonder what camera was used.

more and more people are using dSLRs these days. during the recent wedding in church last 3rd October, there were at least 10 dSLRs in the hall. 2 each carried by the 2 pro photographers (one of them had a Canon 5D (RM10k!), and many visitors in church also had them.

someone i know is saving up for a nikon d90. happy for ya :)

one thing i don't like is using the built in flash. i try to avoid using it where possible, and when i do use it, i normally don't like the result, but that's probably better than not being able to have a clear picture at all. the way to improve it is to use an external flash, and i guess that will have to wait behind a lot of other priorities.

hope to have more time to take photos with my a330. i've got to learn how to clean that uv filter.

latest photos are on http://pat-chris.blogspot.com and i'm thinking of getting my own domain name just for kicks...

wish i could sleep as well as this baby...

  • 100% Undiluted Work Concentration

You can really see progress when you observe good and dedicated construction workers putting in 8 hours of hard, concentrated work in building a house or performing some renovated work. Walls go up, roofs are put in place, windows are installed, paint is fully applied and debris is cleared.

Oftentimes I feel office workers probably don't get that much done because of Facebook, MSN and Texas Hold-Em Poker.

    Back to work for me!

  • Back at work after Hari Raya

A few of my colleagues are saying that 4 days of holiday are insufficient. I'm thinking we probably have to make the most of the days we have, whether or not they are holidays.

I'm not really one to regularly work through the day and night for the company, so I guess the bosses won't be thrilled when they realise that. Just hope to give my best and draw a line in order to strike a balance. At the end of the day I don't want to look back at the past 5 years and say I gave everything to my job. There's really more to life than that for me.
